I have been receiving well wishes from many very kind people since I posted my recent heart attack experience. Adding that to my wonderful family's support, I am one very lucky man. However, I have also become alarmed.
One e-mail that came my way though was from someone who seemed to be describing possibly immediate heart issues of his/her own and who was asking me to say what I thought they should do about it.
Me??? I replied that he needed a doctor immediately!
In hindsight, I handled my own situation very badly. My chest pains were in evidence for days before the crisis was upon me. I should have sought my doctor's attention way sooner than I did. In no way should I be any kind of role model about this.
While you might over the course of time possibly sound off some false alarms, something which I myself once did back in the mid-nineties, a genuine heart attack can be deceptive in its presentation. If you detect any anomaly of any kind, you really call your doctor or call 9-1-1 and seek medical attention.
Your life could be on the line.
