Do you like a little mystery or maybe someone is into ichthyology and can answer this.

There is this large fish tank in this one doctor’s waiting room with maybe half a dozen quite spectacularly colored fish swimming around. One fish though, and only that one, goes over to one corner of the tank where a water circulation pump is operating and goes up and down and up and down and up and down and ..... seemingly forever.

I see this happening every time I go there. None of the other fish show any tendency to do this so what is this one fish gaining for itself that the other fish don’t seem to care about?
